BNSF has been working on building a new intermodal facility near the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The project will allow containers to travel just four miles to the new site where they will be loaded onto rail and then will travel through the Alameda Corridor instead of traveling 24 miles to BNSF's Hobart facility.
